Oral Health Management of Oncology Patients in Dental Primary Care

Development of new guidance on the topic of oral health management of oncology patients in dental primary care is under consideration. Preliminary work to inform the scope of this project is ongoing, including consideration of other relevant resources.
As part of scoping, SDCEP conducted focus groups with members of the primary care dental team to discuss the management of patients who have a diagnosis of cancer or who have previously been treated for cancer. The focus groups provided participants with the opportunity to share their opinions and experiences on providing oral health care for patients with cancer, to help ensure any resources developed are relevant to clinical practice and meet users’ needs.
